Canadian developer and publisher Digital Extremes has revealed that Warframe is in development for Nintendo Switch thanks to a partnership with Panic Button. The news comes from this year’s TennoCon, the third annual convention of the game.
Warframe is a free-to-play third-person online action game set in an evolving science fiction world that gives players the chance to master the Warframe armor as the enigmatic Tenno, a race of ancient warriors He woke up from centuries of cryo – asleep by the mysterious guide, Lotus. The game features over 35 unique Warframes, hundreds of weapons and thousands of customization options, as well as upgrades, a flexible modulation system and the ability to unite clans, raise pets and explore new massive open worlds.
The game was originally released on PC in 2013, reaching PS4 and Xbox One soon after, and has seen updates and adjustments since then to keep things fresh. Being the ambitious title it is, it’s no surprise that Digital Extremes wanted to have Panic Button on board with the Switch version: Button’s recent DOOM ports, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Rocket League have impressed everyone, so I’m feeling the hope of another success story here.
Of course, Panic Button recently mocked that an important Switch port would be announced this month, and it seems that we now have our answer as to what that game is. The release of the title has not yet been confirmed, but here are some screenshots of the game to get you dizzy.
