According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the H1N1 virus, commonly known as swine flu, has killed 226 throughout the country.
On Wednesday, the health ministry led by Secretary Preeti Sudan organized a meeting to discuss measures taken to treat swine flu.
The health ministry said it has delegated a public health team to Rajasthan to assess the situation and help states strengthen the response to the increase in cases. Additional teams have also been ordered to Gujarat and Punjab to assist states in responding to the outbreak.
“Regular videoconferences are being conducted to monitor the situation, and states have been advised to involve district collectors to improve public awareness and response to outbreaks,” the ministry said.
Gujarat has the second highest number of deaths (43) followed by Punjab (30), while in 2019 there were more than 6,600 cases of swine flu.
