A new study published in the European Journal of Nutrition notes that black tea can also be effective in weight loss. A team of experts from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) found that the chemicals called polyphenols found in black tea can help change the energy metabolism in the liver by altering the intestinal metabolites.

“Our new findings suggest that black tea, through a specific mechanism through the intestinal microbiota, can also contribute to good health and weight loss in humans,” said author Susanne Henning, a professor at the University of California in Los Angeles. Black tea was found as a source of intestine that benefits the prebiotics that facilitate the growth of intestinal bacteria.

The team carried out experiments in the mouse module to conclude that the group of pf mice that received extracts of black tea had an increase in a type of bacteria called Pseudobutyrivibrio, which could explain the difference between how black tea and tea change energy metabolism. The study concluded that black tea has health benefits that go beyond just supplying antioxidants to the body. It also affects the microbiome of the intestine and can help increase metabolism to facilitate weight loss.
