Enraged at being challenged, three people, including a leader of the car drivers union, allegedly beat a police officer at the New Delhi train station, police said Thursday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when traffic agent Satish Kumar, 33, was returning home on a DTC bus after service from the Ajmeri Gate point.
Around 9:45 pm, when the bus arrived at the New Delhi train station, the three men boarded the bus. The police officer told the police that the union leader pointed him out and said he “challenged our taxi drivers, so we have to teach him a lesson,” said a police official.
The agent was then beaten by the three men who then fled the scene, he said.
After the incident, the agent filed a complaint at the Kamla Market police station and a case was registered, he added.
