Robert Vadra, businessman and husband of the Secretary General of the Congress, Priyanka Gandhi, and his mother, Maureen Vadra, are in the Jaipur office of the Directorate of Compliance (ED) for questioning in relation to the case of Bikaner. They arrived at the ED Jaipur office this morning. Priyanka Gandhi accompanied them to the ED office in Jaipur.
Priyanka Gandhi had also accompanied Robert Vadra to the Delhi Department of Education office last week when he was interrogated for hours over three days in connection with another property case. Priyanka Gandhi had said that her trip to the emergency office in Delhi was designed to send a message.
Previously, Vadra arrived in the capital of Rajasthan on Monday after being summoned by the DE. The case is related to an alleged 275-acre land scam in the Kolayat subdivision of the Bikaner district.
Senior ED officials, according to the sources, have prepared a set of 55 questions for Vadra in the alleged case of land fraud. The interrogation is taking place after a Jan. 21 order from the Rajasthan High Court, which ordered the partners of Sky Light Hospitality Company to appear before the Compliance Directorate (ED) on February 12.
Robert Vadra and his mother Maureen are partners in the company. However, the superior court prevented the agency from arresting Robert Vadra and Maureen.
The name of Sky Light Company arose during the investigation by the ED in a case of money laundering in the case of the Bikaner land scam. The Sky Light Hospitality moved the High Court of Rajasthan, which in December 2018 prevented the ED from taking coercive measures against the company. The superior court also sent notices to the Ministry of Finance and the DE.
