Panaji:Mr. Gandhi alleged that Mr. Parrikar was using the “secrets” of Rafale to negotiate.
Rahul Gandhi said it was a personal visit to wish him a speedy recovery.
Manohar Parrikar was minister of defense when the agreement with Rafale was signed.
Rahul Gandhi entered Manohar Parrikar’s office in Goa on Tuesday, a day after tweeting about “Rafale’s secret explosives that gave power to the Chief Minister of Goa over the prime minister.” The president of Congress has been requesting an investigation into the audio tapes that, according to him, revealed that Manohar Parrikar has files on the agreement of Rafale’s plane and, therefore, has influence over his leadership.
Rahul Gandhi called it “personal visit” and tweeted: “This morning I visited Goa CM, Manohar Parrikar, to wish him a speedy recovery.” The Congress in Goa said that his boss, contrary to speculation, did not raise Rafale’s agreement with the Chief Minister, who has felt extremely bad in recent months due to a pancreatic condition.
“It was a private visit.” That issue (agreement with Rafale) was not discussed, Rahul Gandhi could make an official trip to Goa next month, “Congress lawmaker Chandrakant Kavlekar said, according to the IANS news agency.
Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi are on holiday in Goa. On Monday, the head of Congress flew to Chattisgarh for a rally before returning to Goa. After meeting with Mr. Parrikar, Rahul Gandhi ran to Kochi.
The BJP in Goa said that Congress should “learn a lesson” from its boss. “It’s very kind of you to do it, I should give a lesson to the local congressional unit, which has been worrying Mr. Parrikar, he just asked about his health,” said BJP leader Vijay Sardesai.
Yesterday, Mr. Gandhi published a series of tweets to elevate Rafale’s agreement and the so-called audio tapes of Manohar Parrikar.
“Thirty days since the audio tapes of Goa were released in Rafale, there was no request for FIR or any investigation, and there were no actions against it (Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane),” Gandhi said.
“It is obvious that the films are authentic and that Goa CM Parrikar is in possession of Rafale’s secret explosives that give him power over the prime minister,” he wrote.
