Leopard spotted at Thane mall, caught from basement of nearby hotel


On Wednesday, forest department officials managed to capture a leopard that was seen leaving the Korum Mall in Thane around 5:30 am. It is believed that the leopard has entered the mall complex after climbing the perimeter wall.

The CCTV images showed the wildcat coming out of the mall premises around 5:30 am.

A search operation was started after it was seen that the leopard was moving towards the residential area of ​​Vasant Vihar nearby.

After searching the adjacent areas, forest department officials managed to track the leopard to the basement of the nearby Satkar Hotel residence at Cadbury Junction in Thane.

“The leopard that was seen advancing towards the residential area of ​​Vasant Vihar in Thane was caught by the forestry department in the basement of the Satkar hotel. The leopard entered through the back entrance of the hotel and was discovered by a member of the hotel security team, “said a police officer from the Vartak Nagar police station.

Security officials informed the police that they arrived and cordoned off the area. Following the same thing, forest officials tended a trap around the basement.
