Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy woos disgruntled Congress MLAs with plum posts

In the midst of the political chaos in Karnataka over the continuation of the governing coalition in power, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy secured the support of at least one section of disgruntled lawmakers before the budget session scheduled for February 8.

A day before presenting the budget, Kumaraswamy made last minute changes and offered jobs to potential rebels in the government on February 7. He appointed three Congress legislators in two meetings and gave a legislator a Parliamentary Secretary post last night.

Maski MLA Pratap Gouda Patil has been named president of Warehouse Corporation. He has replaced the legislator Umesh Jadhav, one of the MLA of the rebel Congress who was absent from the meetings of the Congress Legislative Party despite repeated warnings. Jadhav is in contact with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Raichur Rural MLA Basanagoud Daddal will now be the President of the Wellness Board of the Scheduled Tribes. Hassan MLC MA Gopalaswamy will now be the Parliamentary Secretary of the Minister of Water Resources DK Shivakumar.
