Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences to host World Congress of Anthropology 2023


BHUBANESWAR: Adding another feather to its top, the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) Considered as a University has been selected to host the XIX International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (ICAES) 2023.

KISS officials said India, represented by KISS, won the tender against Croatia by a wide margin to host the next edition of the prestigious World Congress. According to officials, during this year’s Congress held in Brazil from July 16 to 20, the final tender was held between KISS and Croatia. India’s KISS got 2084 votes, while Croatia managed to get 89 votes.

They said that the World Congress of Anthropology at KISS will be organized in collaboration with the University of Utkal and the University of Sambalpur. The Indian Anthropological Association, Delhi, the Indian Anthropological Society, Kolkata and the Society of Ethnography and Popular Culture, Lucknow also agreed to be the partners for the event, authorities said.

More than 10,000 delegates from more than 150 countries are expected to participate in the World Congress, held every five years in different parts of the world, they said.
