A group of militants threw grenades at an army camp in the Bandipora district of northern Kashmir on Tuesday night. The army camp is next to the Hajjan police station in the area. Police said militants threw grenades using grenade launchers underneath the cannon at Army Camp, which is said to be less than 30 Rashtriya rifles, at around 8:30 PM.
The militants threw grenades at the camp, adjacent to the police station, from two sides, a PTI report said. A senior police official said the fire was responded “to a large extent and effectively.” He also confirmed that it was not a suicide attack. Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off and combing operations have begun, the official said, adding that more details were expected.
