NEW DELHI: Haryana Jails’ minister, Krishan Lal Panwar, said on Tuesday that Dera Sacha’s chief Sauda, a rape convict, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, will not receive any special treatment in Rohtak prison.
Panwar’s comment came as a reaction to the allegations of a prisoner in the same prison where he has never seen Dera’s boss do the work expected of all inmates. He dismissed the accusations made by the prisoner, who is currently on bail.
“Ram Rahim does not receive VIP treatment and is treated like any other prisoner, there is a lot of distance between barracks, they can not even interact, so the prisoner who is released on bail could be under the impression that he is being Ram Rahim. given special treatment inside the prison, “said the Panwar.
The prisoner who made the accusations, Rahul Jain, had said that the authorities treated Ram Rahim differently from other prisoners, and that he is receiving benefits and special treatment.
“The authorities say that ‘baba’ is in the same prison, but nobody has seen him there, and nobody is allowed to go wherever Baba is kept,” said Jain, adding that all the other prisoners are locked up every time Ram Rahim is released from his cell, since he usually goes to the canteen to look for water, milk or juice.
Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 20 years in rigorous prison and a fine of more than 30 lakh rupees for raping his two followers. His conviction led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana, leaving 38 people dead and another 264 injured. There were also reports of isolated incidents of violence in Delhi and in several places in the Punjab.
