Delhi Congress passes resolution urging Rahul Gandhi to become party president


Newly elected members of the Delhi Congress unanimously passed a resolution on Saturday urging Rahul Gandhi to take over of party president. Gandhi is currently Vice President of Congress. It has been reported that he could soon take charge of the party’s indictment.

Rajasthan’s congress chief Sachin Pilot recently said that Gandhi could take over the party on Diwali as president of Congress and that time was ripe for him to lead from the front.

At a meeting held at the state unit’s headquarters on Saturday, 280 delegates from the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) passed a resolution seeking to elevate Gandhi to the party’s chief.

Former PM Manmohan Singh also attended the meeting as a delegate from the constituency of the New Delhi Assembly. Congress is conducting organizational surveys, including for the post of president.
