BENGALURU: A 29-year-old software engineer from Patna has disappeared from the Whitefield area in Bengaluru under mysterious circumstances. Ajitabh Kumar, who worked at British Telecom, left home around 6:30 pm Monday. His friends suspect that he might have received a call from a prospective buyer of his car that he had put up for sale on the OLX classifieds website.
Ajitabh has not been seen since then and his phone is switched off.
Friends say he was active for the last time on WhatsApp around 7:10 pm on the same day.
Ajitabh stayed with his childhood friend, Ravi, in Whitefield since moving to Bengaluru in 2010. “He had an MBA executive program at IIM Kolkata, he had to pay around Rs.5 lakh on the 20th and we believe that That’s why he had put his car on sale to finance his fees, when he left home, he was in casual clothes and did not tell anyone where he was going, “Ravi said.
The car has not been found either. The police are analyzing CCTV images of the area and nearby toll plazas.
Police say the last location of the mobile tower was near Gunjur, on the outskirts of the city, after which the phone went dead.
They say it is extremely difficult to collect details of any communication that may have happened with WhatsApp or online.
“We are investigating all the angles, we have also searched the online classifieds portal, we have also obtained their call register details,” said a police officer as part of the investigation.
Police said the investigation so far has not suggested anything out of the ordinary in Ajitabh’s personal and professional life.
Friends and relatives of Ajitabh have launched an online campaign to find him.
