After Kamala Mills Compound, another fire breaks out in Mumbai, at least 4 dead


MUMBAI: Just one week after the fatal fire accident in Kamala Mills in Mumbai that killed at least 14 people, another fire broke out in the Maimoon building in the city on Wednesday night.

At least four people died and another seven were injured by the fire that occurred on the third floor of the building located in Marol, around 1:30 a.m. from Thursday.

At least 11 people were allegedly rescued by firefighters.

All the injured were quickly transferred to nearby hospitals in Cooper and Mukund, where they received medical treatment.

Firefighters took almost 30 minutes to control the fire, the report said.

This explosion of fire in the Maimoon building in Marol occurs almost a week after a massive inferno that claimed the lives of 14 people in Kamala Mills in Lower Parel.

On December 29, a massive fire swirled on the terrace of the ‘1 Above’ pub in the Kamala Mills complex, killing 14 people and leaving 21 injured.

Among those killed was Khushbu Bansali, a woman who was celebrating her 29th birthday.

The fire was reported from a rooftop restaurant at The Kamla Trade House. It quickly spread to another pub and a restaurant in the vicinity. More than 200 people in the facilities were caught in the fire.

More than 12 firefighters were rushed to fight the fire that was controlled after several hours. Post mortem of the bodies blame suffocation for the deaths.

Kamala Mills is an industrial complex that houses the best restaurants and other commercial establishments, including hotels.
