200 Indian students trapped in Houston floods being evacuated

HOUSTON / NEW DELHI: At least 200 Indian students stranded at the University of Houston + due to “catastrophic” floods after Hurricane Harvey struck Texas were evacuated to safer locations, officials said Monday.

Students received food and other supplies from the Native American community in the area.

Consul General of India in Houston Anupam Ray has been in contact with students and monitoring the evacuation process.

In New Delhi, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said two Indian students, Shalini and Nikhil Bhatia, have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
