New York Fashion Week is only a week away, and Georgina Chapman is taking her program out of the lineup. According to the New York Post, designer Marchesa and separated wife of Harvey Weinstein has decided to give up her planned catwalk show on February 14 in favor of a digital presentation.
“Georgina could not get on with that, she was too scared,” a source told The Post. “They were delighted … but as they got closer, she choked.”
It has been a little more than three months since Chapman announced his separation from Weinstein because dozens of women reported his sexual abuse. Shortly after the scandal erupted, there were reports of Marchesa employees leaving the company, as well as the suspension of the brand’s collaboration with Helzberg Diamonds indefinitely.
“It breaks my heart for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions,” Chapman said in a statement in October. “I have chosen to leave my husband, taking care of my young children is my top priority and I ask for privacy from the media at this time.”
As for the next presentation, the brand has little to say. A spokesperson for Marchesa told The Post: “Marchesa is looking forward to presenting her Fall ’18 collection in an updated format this season.”
