Irrfan Khan’s tumour can be removed surgically, says Dr. Saumitra Rawat

In what could provide a respite to Irrfan Khan fans, who are in a state of shock after the actor revealed that he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor, a doctor said that the ‘rare disease’ of the former is curable.

Dr. Saumitra Rawat, HOD, Surgical Gastroenterology and Liver Transplant, Sri Ganga Ram Hospital, spoke with ANI about it and gave some ideas about its nature and medication.

Dr. Rawat said: “The neuroendocrine tumor is an abnormal growth of Neuroendo cells that are present in the bodies.” When there is an abnormal growth, it forms a tumor: it is normally seen in the intestine, the pancreas, the lung, the thyroid. and other parts of the body. ”

Commenting on Khan’s case, he said: “It depends on the location of the tumor, its size and what is its fungal index.”

He also noted that these types of tumors can be removed surgically.
“Depending on where the tumor is located, it can be removed surgically and the chances of cure are very high,” explained Dr. Rawat.

He added that once the procedure is done, the patient is required to have regular check-ups for any recurrent tumor.

He had tweeted: “Life is not obligated to give us what we expect” – Margaret Mitchell. The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the last days have been. Discovering that I have been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor from now on has certainly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found in me have brought me to a place of hope. The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I ask everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumors, that was floated NEURO is not always about the brain and Google is the easiest way to do research 😉 For those who waited for my words, I hope to come back with more stories to tell. “
