Winner of Dance Plus 4: aside from the winner’s trophy, Chetan Salunkhe, a 19-year-old boy from Pune, took home the cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.
Chetan Salunkhe on Saturday emerged as the winner of Dance Plus 4. The other finalists in the dance reality show with host Remo D’souza were Aanchal-Sujan, Vartika Jha and V Unbeatable. In addition to the winner’s trophy, Chetan took home the cash prize of Rs 25 lakh. Chetan was part of Punit J. Pathak’s team. Aanchal-Sujan, also of Team Punit, became the runner-up.
Hailing from Pune, Chetan, 19, is a self-taught dancer. While his mother is a domestic help, his father works as a daily worker. Chetan’s determination to win the show for his parents earned him the title of Shravan Kumar in Dance Plus 4. The young dancer was also nicknamed “popping badshah” for his exemplary movements.
On the show, Chetan Salunkhe talked about his financial challenges and how he did not even have money to get formal dance training. He also shared how several dance schools rejected him saying he could never try the popping dance. Chetan then trained by watching videos on YouTube and dancing at night in the street light.
In the final episode, Chetan starred with international star Marquese Scott. The popular actors of Marathi, Siddharth Jadhav and Ketki Mategaonkar, also participated in the program to support Chetan. The young champion, who is a Ketki fan, was surprised to see her on stage.
The finale of Dance Plus 4 also featured the presence of some popular celebrities. Nora Fatehi showed off her belly dancing skills and Mouni Roy paid tribute to the iconic Bollywood female stars Vyjayanthimala, Sridevi, Rekha and Madhuri Dixit. Anil Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh and Madhuri Dixit were also seen promoting their upcoming comedy drama Total Dhamaal during the final. The singer Kumar Sanu took advantage of the occasion and sang some of his success numbers.
Judged by the choreographer and Bollywood filmmaker Remo D’souza, Dance Plus 4 had as a punit J Pathak, Shakti Mohan and Dharmesh as mentors.
